Course Substitutions
Students requesting a substitution to any program requirement must submit a formal request through the appropriate academic approval process. Requests for substitutions to program-specific requirements will be reviewed by the appropriate academic dean or designated academic authority. Requests involving General Education or Alabama Transfers (STARS) requirements will be forwarded to the Office of Academic Affairs for review and final approval.
All approved substitutions will be documented in the student's academic record by the Office of Admissions and Records following final approval.
Approval Process
Students must consult with their assigned academic advisor to discuss the requested substitution and have them complete the Substitution Form.
Requests for substitutions involving program-specific requirements must be approved by the academic dean responsible for the applicable course or designated academic authority.
Requests involving General Education or Alabama Transfers (STARS) requirements must comply with Alabama Community College System policies and applicable transfer or accreditation requirements. These requests must include a completed Curriculum Waiver Form signed by the student and all required approving officials.
Final approved requests will be submitted to the Office of Admissions and Records for processing and documentation in the student's academic record.
Students with Disabilities
Calhoun Community College is committed to providing equal educational access in accordance with applicable federal and state laws. Students with documented disabilities may request reasonable accommodations through the Office of Disability Services. Reasonable accommodations may include approved academic adjustments; however, accommodations will not waive or substitute essential program or degree requirements unless permitted by applicable law and institutional policy.
Requests for course substitutions are not automatically granted. Requests are approved only when the proposed substitution preserves the academic integrity, required learning outcomes, and accreditation standards of the student's academic program.
